Black Books Indie Folk, Indie Pop, Indie Rock

Sometimes the best things happen simply by chance. Black Books came about from an impromptu jam session at Rossco and Meg Gilfillan’s house in Manor, Texas. Several casual meet-ups and quite a few beers later, the five-piece group has laid down several tracks, and numerous other songs are slowly but surely taking shape. The group meets regularly at Test Tube Audio, owned by sound engineer and producer Kevin Butler. Kevin plays guitar while putting in time at the soundboard. Meg and Clarke Curtis share duties on keyboards, while Rossco works double duties on drums and vocals. Mike Parker keeps the low end moving on bass. Together, the group has expanded on its sound—a playful blend of indie pop, folk and rock.
